Although optical cables and fibre are widely used for long-distance transmission in cabling,lots of people still don’t know much about purchasing these products.Today,we will make a brief description of how to purchase good and sound optical cables and fibre from the structure,material and craftwork of optical cables and fibre.
Technique one:Material choosing
The material choosing is the key part of the expectancy of optical cables.And the craftwork drastically affects the quality.≤0.01dB/km is a basic data to measure the craftwork level of a factory.The main material of optical cable contains:fibre core,filling compound,PBT,sheath,etc,all of which have different quality requirements.Fibre core needs good filling ability,higher SNR,lower bit error rate,longer amplifier spacing and higher information carrying capacity;filling compound is ointment filled in the fibre tube whose functions are to prevent the moist from eroding the fibre and to buffer the fibre from vibrating and lashing.
Technique two:Fibre Core
According to fibre core,the structure of each type of cable can be divided into unitube,stranded loose tube,skeleton,band,etc.Different structure has different functions,users can carry out corresponding requirements.Generally under 12 core cables,we use unitube type,because the craftwork is simple and the cost is low,which make it more competitive during aerial cabling or networks with good pipe protection;the stranded loose tube cables are formed by SZ ways,whose core can be up to 144 core.And the greatest advantages of the stranded loose tube cables are water-proof,tensile strength,big crush load and the cables can be buried underground directly.In the mean time,the cables are easy to be split,that is to say,when we need to use the fibre of the cable separately,we don’t need to cut the whole cable but only to cut the split fibre.
Technique three:Application:
According to the application of optical cables,they can be divided into buried cable,pipe cable,aerial cable,underwater cable,non-metallic cable,etc.The aerial cables need high strength,small temperature coefficient;the buried cables need anti-burial,pressure-resistant,moisture-proof,anti-chemical corrosion;pipe cables and submarine cables need to be water-pressure-proof,high water-proof;non-metallic cables can be cabled with high tension cable and the non-metallic cables have to be good insulation and tension strength.Thus,users need to set up corresponding requirements according to the applications while purchasing cables so as to ensure the stability and reliability of the cables.
