Ways to Improving the Accurate Positioning of Cable Line Malfunction

         For starters,we need to know how to use the instrument and master the ways to using it,which can be good at exact measurements.

1.Set up the OTDR parameter well.While using the OTDR test,we have to set up the OTDR parameter,mainly to set up the refractive index and wavelength.Only when we accurately set up the basic parameter can we create good conditions for test.

2.Using the zooming function of the instrument.Applying to the zooming function of OTDR can put the cursor onto the corresponding inflection point accurately.And the chart can be enlarged to 25-meter square by zooming,which can obtain the result of less-than one-meter resolution ratio.

3.Adapting accurate testing range.

For different testing range,the range resolution of OTDR testing is different.While measuring the fibre obstacles,we should choose testing range that is more than measured distance and the closest so that we can mostly use the instrument accuracy to measure.

       Secondly,we should make accurate and finished original files during the managing process.Those files are basis of malfunction measurement and positioning.Thus,we can’t be carelessness and should make actual,credible and complete line files during the managing process.

        When dealing with the optical fibre cable joint test,we should record the accumulated fibre length from testing terminal to every joint point and the whole fibre attenuation of repeater section,in the mean time,we also need to register the instrument model and the set point of the refraction.And we also need accurately record all kinds of surplus cable.We should completely record the surplus cable length of every joint pit,special area,S-cabling,indoor,etc and the surplus fibre length of disclosure,terminal box,ODF Frame,etc so as to delete the length when comes to calculating the malfunction point.

         Besides,the testing condition should be consistency during the measuring process.We should keep the consistency among instrument model,operating methods and instrument parameter so that the testing result can be comparable.Therefore,we have to completely record the setting of the instrument model and measuring parameter for later use.

       Last but not least,comprehensive analysis.The operators have to be mind-clear and flexible when handling the problems during malfunction point testing.Generally,the ends of fiber and cable line are two-way measurement,then we prepare to estimate the exact position of the malfunction according to our analysis of original data.If we can’t confirm the exact field and there is no obvious signs of the lines near the malfunction point,we can use nearby-layup method.
